What a year 2025 has been for us! We had two consecutive litters that kept us busy throughout the summer.
We started with our H Litter when Riava's Miss Dakota-Soda was bred to VC Brush Dale's Triple Threat-Tito in late spring. On June 13, 2025, a Friday the 13th, Soda whelped our H Litter with 10 puppies—5 girls and 5 boys. It turned out to be a lucky day!
The puppies grew quickly, and we decided to keep one from this litter, a female named Cedars Point Heinous Hydra-River. Due to the Friday the 13th date, we chose a scary character theme for all the puppies' kennel names. However, her call name is River because of the unique markings on her back.
Meanwhile, Brush Dale's You Can't Fence Me In- Yetta went into heat, and we chose to breed her with a stud from Virginia, VC Belvoir Bullet Cooper. Jeff made the long journey for the breeding, which was successful. On August 21st, coinciding with Brenda's first day of school, Yetta delivered 7 puppies—3 girls and 4 boys for our I Litter.
We also decided to keep a female from this litter, named Cedars Point I’ve Got Your Number, with the call name Briar. We opted for an idiom theme, inspired by suggestions from Brenda’s students. The fact that they were born on the first day of school influenced the theme choice as well.
We had puppy parties for both litters despite an unexpected kitchen remodel, but all puppies were well socialized and placed in amazing homes.
Briar and River have quickly become close friends and are now part of the pack, bringing new puppy energy into the house.
Cedars Point Glitzy Spitz from our G litter last year turned one year old in May and received an NA Prize 1 maximum score in her NAVHDA Natural Ability Test! We are proud of all the progress she has made. She's becoming a monster in the field just like her parents, Yetta and Cedar.
This year also brought some heart-wrenching moments as we had to say goodbye to our BB's Aster and Cedars Point Don't Stop Believin' (Zephyr). As a breeder, it's never easy to let go of dogs, but due to some breeding challenges with Aster, and the fact that Zephyr never grew big enough to meet breed standards, we knew it would be best to place them in new homes. Aster still lives in South Dakota with a wonderful family, and Zephyr resides in Illinois with one of our fantastic puppy buyers from our B litter. Both are doing great, getting spoiled, and go out to hunt often. We do get frequent updates and photos. We miss them a lot though.
On the home front, Jeff is enjoying retirement but remains very busy managing the kennel logistics, training the dogs, and hunting. He's been out hunting in South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming so far this season. Brenda is also occupied at school, having returned to her Library/STREAM role. She even made time to visit family in Mexico over the summer. She always spoils the Munsters with toys and treats.
What's in store for 2026? We hope there are many more Small Munsterlander adventures waiting for us.
We pray that you all have a wonderful Christmas season and Happy New Year!
