Augmenting Training with Wild Places and Wild Flowers

There's nothing better than watching a Small Munsterlander EXPLORE!

Photos collected were captured on two trips up Black Elk Peak and a walk across Rattlesnake Ridge right above our house in the Piedmont Valley. This happened to be Glitzy Spitz's second time up Black Elk Peak in a week. She terrorized the chipmunk both trips. The second trip we approached from Horsethief Lake which entailed 14 miles of round trip hiking in the Black Hills National Forest and the Black Elk Wilderness. Roughly 2700' feet of elevation gain and the same for loss. The wild flowers were just starting to pop and we were treated with cool temperatures, few hikers on both days with some snow on top and falling from the sky on our second trip up. We missed the after school summers here crowds too; they will start showing up this weekend and remain until the fall. Seize the day!!!

My phone died half way back to car. So this isn't 100% accurate for the round trip. We missed some additional flowers too as a result. Still a beautiful outing!

The final photos are from Rattlesnake Ridge which is just above our house in the Piedmont Valley. Thank goodness for the recent rain and thunderstorms. The cloud burst always bring out the best in the hills and valleys! Hope you enjoy the scenery and flowers. Even the sedge was a bloom or going to seed.
