Puppy Buyer Process
This page outlines our complete puppy buyer process—from initial interest through puppy departure—so prospective buyers know exactly what to expect. We believe transparency, thoughtful placement, and long-term success are essential to preserving the Small Munsterlander as a versatile hunting and performance breed.
Litter Announcements,
Puppy Buyer Questionnaire
& Deposits
Once a breeding pair has been finalized, we will post a Litter Announcement on this website under the Litters / Started Dogs tab. At that time, we will also notify individuals who have previously completed our Interested Prospect List.
Buyers interested in a specific litter are required to complete a Puppy Buyer Questionnaire (PBQ) for that pairing. The PBQ will be made available on the Litter Announcements page once the breeding decision is finalized. Questionnaires may also be provided by request.
After we receive your PBQ, we will contact you to discuss your goals and determine whether there is a good fit. If so, you may be offered the opportunity to submit a deposit, which secures your place for that litter.
Deposit policy:

We accept up to six (6) deposits initially per litter

Deposits are refundable until four (4) weeks after the whelp date

Cancellations after that date will result in the deposit being moved to the next available litter

Deposits may also be transferred to another future litter if preferred
Because deposits are limited, we encourage buyers not to wait until the last minute to submit a PBQ.
Once a litter is born, confirmed healthy, and the size, sex, and overall makeup are known, we will contact additional interested buyers based on PBQ submissions received.
Our goal is to pre-place puppies in responsible hunting, testing, working, and performance homes that align with each puppy’s potential.
Puppy Sales Agreement
We strongly encourage all buyers to review our Puppy Sales Agreement, which outlines the expectations and protections for both buyer and breeder.

Puppy Departure & Transportation
Puppies will leave Cedars Point Kennel no earlier than 8 weeks of age. Prior to departure, each puppy will:

Receive first vaccinations

Be microchipped
-
Be wormed
-
Be crate-conditioned
-
Be eating dry food
-
Be registered with NAVHDA and AKC (litter registration once all puppies are placed)
We strongly prefer in-person pickup at Cedars Point Kennel so buyers can meet us and see our dogs. We do not ship puppies via air cargo.
If you choose to fly with your puppy in the cabin:

You are responsible for airline fees, crate, health certificate, and travel costs

All additional costs must be paid prior to departure
Ground transportation options may occasionally be available through trusted contacts traveling to shows or events, and we are happy to assist in coordinating transportation when appropriate.
Early Puppy Development
Before leaving our care, puppies are exposed to:

Multiple ground surfaces

Bird wings and live birds

Loud noises and distant gunfire

Water (weather permitting)

Extensive human and dog socialization
Our puppies are raised using Puppy Culture principles alongside our own proven rearing program, designed to bring out heritable traits through scent work, confidence-building, and structured play.
